Permits & regulations

Everything the Nepal Tourism Board, ACAP and the Department of Immigration require for trekking in western Nepal — kept current by the team that files these permits weekly.

Licensed guides are mandatory

Since 1 April 2023, the Nepal Tourism Board and ACAP require every foreign trekker inside the Annapurna Conservation Area to travel with a licensed guide arranged through an accredited agency. Solo unguided trekking is prohibited on major Annapurna trails.

ACAP conservation permit

NPR 3,000 per foreign adult, NPR 1,000 for SAARC nationals, free under 10 years. Issued in Pokhara or at the Birethanti and Khare checkpoints; tied to your passport number.

TIMS trekker card

NPR 2,000 for foreign nationals, NPR 1,000 for SAARC citizens. Registered against the passport and your agency's registration details.

Upper Mustang restricted area

Beyond Kagbeni, a restricted-area permit (USD 500 for 10 days) is required in addition to ACAP, with a registered guide and a minimum group of two travellers.

We handle every permit on your behalf — ACAP, TIMS, restricted-area permits and the mandatory guide arrangement letter are included in each package price. Bring your passport and four passport photos; we do the rest at the checkpoints.
